THANK YOU, STARBUCKS!

A total of $473.00 was raised this morning for the ASNL at the new Starbucks on Hebron Way (off Torbay Rd)! It was the grand opening for the store and all drinks were by donation to the ASNL! IT was a huge success and a very busy morning with a great amount raised and a lot of information shared about the ASNL and autism spectrum disorder. Another new Starbucks will be opening later this fall on Topsail Road in St. John’s. The same thing will be happening there! Keep an eye on our page for those details. Starbucks employees will also be participating in the annual Active for Autism taking place on October 19 at the Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism in St. John’s! They have become a huge supporter of the ASNL. We look forward to continuing this partnership!

Statoil Vegetable Garden!

We are pleased to announce that Statoil has contributed just over $5,000.00 to the Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism. The money has been used to enhance the gardens on our site and also develop educational beds. These beds will serve as tools to educate the public on the benefits of locally produced vegetables. A number of clients working on our site this spring/summer will do much of the work to enhance the grounds. This investment from Statoil has helped provide a lot of the materials needed and will give several people with autism the opportunity to build their social skills and employment skills this year.

27 staff members from the Statoil office in St. John’s came to the Elaine Dobbin Centre today, had a team lunch, took in some presentations from staff, and did a tremendous job at helping get much of the grounds ready for the summer. They also donated several dozen sugar maple trees which were planted around the property. Once mature, these trees will begin to produce maple syrup, which we plan to sell on site.

A big thanks goes out to the staff of Statoil for all of their hard work and to the company for the investment. In recognition of this investment, the small vegetable garden next to The Pantry will now be called the Statoil Vegetable Garden.

A HUGE thank you goes out to the workers on the Hibernia Platform and the Hibernia Management and Development Company (HMDC), this afternoon!

Every year, workers from the Hibernia Platform participate in a Safety Training Observation Program – STOP. This program encourages workers to look out for each other and record both safe & unsafe acts while on and off duty. The observation is captured on STOP Cards and submitted to the Safety Department. For each card submitted the Hibernia Management and Development Company (HMDC) makes a generous donation. The workers then choose a charity every quarter to receive a donation from the funds raised. ASNL was chosen for this quarter! This afternoon, on behalf of the workers on the Hibernia Platform, Colin Hicks presented ASNL with a cheque for $6,801.00!

This wonderful donation will be an enormous help to the work we do across the province! We want to thank everyone involved for their help and generous support.
