Summer Program 2007
 
Each summer we receive funding from the Summer Career Program to hire students to work with individuals with ASD. The program runs during July and August

On-site programs and services: ( The Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism)

Library
 
This is a resource library housed in the Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism, 70 Clinch Cres containing books and videos. Please refer to the resources link for an up-to-date list of resources and lending policies.
 
 
Music Therapy
 
Music Therapy is a skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical and spiritual health. (CAMT, AGM 1994)
 
Music Therapy is offered on-site by a registered Music Therapist. and is offered in block of 8 or 12 sessions year round. Announcements regarding new sessions and registration are offered through our members e-mail list

R.E.A.C.H. (Recreational, Educational, Activities, Community, Hope)

- This group is for participants, whom after the intake process; it is determined that they could benefit from the opportunity to socialize with staff and peers before entering a pre-vocational program.
- This 8 week group focuses on a pre-vocational assessment as well as social and life skill activities.

Pre-vocational programs:

All participants enrolled in pre-vocational programs must first complete an intake interview. After the intake interview participants may either enter a pre-vocational program or complete an eight week REACH program.
 
All participants are provided with an appropriate level of support for each program and are available to both male and female participants
 
The intake process for Adults began February 2007 and is on-going.
Intake for adolescents will begin June 2007.

Kitchen /restaurant training
 
-         individuals have an opportunity to work both behind the scenes in “The Pantry”  helping with tasks such as; meal prep i.e. cutting vegetables, dish washing; or customer service i.e., busing tables or serving meals.
 
 
Maintenance/ Janitorial training
 
-         Individuals enrolled in this program learn the role of a maintenance person and are taught skills such as; bathroom cleaning, garbage collection, window washing, vacuuming and dusting. Skills are taught with the appropriate level of support and foster a skills building/strengths based learning opportunity.
 
 
Administrative Assistant training


-         Individuals participating in this program learn administrative skills/office skills. This could include duties such as; answering the phone, photocopying, faxing, filing, typing, mail preparation and computer skills.
