Early Christmas for the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL) with a $500,000 donation from Craig L. Dobbin

St. John's, December 14, 2005: The Shamrock Farm Capital Campaign has reached and surpassed its $1.5 million dollar goal.

The Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL) launched a capital campaign in October 2003 led by Campaign Chair: Mrs. Elaine Dobbin. “This generous gift will allow us to complete our capital plans and turn our fundraising efforts to operating funds” says Elaine Dobbin, Campaign Chair. “Meeting our campaign goal is an indicator of the strong support we have from our community, province-wide” “This project is the first phase in a series of much needed support for the individuals and their families living with Autism in Newfoundland and Labrador.” Elaine Dobbin.

Joyce Churchill, President ASNL says “This gift along with our other ongoing fundraising activities will meet all our current capital needs, we are truly grateful to Craig for this gift and to both Craig and Elaine for their ongoing support of both encouragement and generosity, without them we would not be here today.

The Shamrock Farm Centre for Autism is located in Pippy Park and will offer an innovative mix of vocational and life skills training for individuals living with autism in this province. This centre will be fully equipped with the space and staff to provide crucial communication, behavioural and social skills and will include a working farm where individuals can learn agricultural and landscaping skills. This provincial centre will offer programming for individuals of all ages. The centre will be a hub of excellence in Atlantic Canada, offering professional training for parents and support workers as well as providing a unique opportunity for research into the cause and treatment of autism.

The Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL) is a province-wide, nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering, lifelong, community-based supports and services, and the promotion of acceptance, independence, productivity, and opportunities for inclusion in all facets of life for persons with autism spectrum disorders and their families.
