Eastern

The Eastern Chapter started in 1999 as a parent support group with just a handful of families.  Over the past thirteen years our chapter has grown exponentially and we are now providing programs and services to over forty families affected by autism in our region.  Geographically we cover all communities from as far west as Glovertown, as far east as Norman’s Cove, all of the Clarenville area including Random Island, along with both the Burin and Bonavista Peninsulas.  The Eastern Chapter provides programming opportunities to all those affected by autism regardless of age and level of functioning.

Our center offers a safe environment for programming including two age appropriate programming rooms, a community room for group meetings and workshops, and a life skills kitchen designed for cooking, hygiene and career development classes.  Within our space we also have a Targa Technical Centre complete with several iPads and iPods fully loaded with app software designed to assist individuals on the autism spectrum in the areas of communication.  In addition to these devices we have a large library stocked with teaching aids, novels, DVDs and many other resources that are available for lending.
